I m looking to getting sprockets and chain for a 99 sport 400. I found JT Sprokets on dennis kirk. How are these? should I go somewhere else?

i bought my sprockets here www.rockymountainatv.com they are called primary drive and tehy meet all o.e.m. specs so theyre just as good as stock and theyre really cheap!!!!!!!

 

im actually looking at the same kind of deal, since have shorter than stock rear tires i was going to get a sprocket maybe a couple teeth smaller

 

u dont really need to change the chain if ur removing teeth from the rear(trying to get more on top end) or removing teeth up front(trying to gain some back on botto end)

 

i dont know about this for sure im just gonna ride it for a bit see what its like.. i mean its only an inch difference

 

what are the stock sprockets for the sport anyway?

and on the front if u go smaller that means more bottom right/?

 

all '99 sport and scrambler have 13-36 gearing stock,there a few good gearing combo depending on field and engine power for that quad,
12-34-/14-38/13-34/...
1995 400 scrambler got 11-38 gearing'it's insane,but that was with old engine.

 

Smaller on the front = slower/more bottom end
Smaller on the rear = faster/ more top end

I used to run 13/32 on my '96 Sport.....it ran well there. I had quite a bit of power though, thanks to Doug and HPD.

 

I run 14/36 and it works well imo clutching will make a much bigger difference than gearing if you want to alter the power characteristics.

 

yeah with the mods im gonna have i think ill go 13-34, because of the smaller tires in the back it will even it out some more and alot of my mods are torque oriented.
