Lock em up!
#1
Tradin' in my 2004 400 gear this week for an 05 400 auto, I love the 400 but, I am also going to buy a "beat around the swamp" buggy for myself. Looking at several older 500 cats. I know the 00 and 01 auto's had great front diffs in them( for a limited slip). Not shure about the older ones(98 99's) I plan on a lift, pipe, filter, jet kit, snorkel, with at least a set of 27's. How well did the front diffs work in these older cats and is it very hard to lock them up?
Thanks in advance...

I dont want to buy another new wheeler just to beat on in the slop, The 400 is plenty for the weekend joy ridin' that i do but, i just want to build something NASTY AND UGLY to play around the house as the Great Sidney Bog is just a stones throw away and is just too nasty to bring somethin pretty...

Was the differential in 00 (auto) and 01 actually different? I never did figure out if that was horse crap or not. I remember some people arguing that the 00 automatic had a better differential than the manual had (and older AC's), and then that they put that same one on the 01 models, but never figured out if it was really any different or better.

there is advantages to buying a brand new machine for mud running and stuff. for if you break something like say for instance hmmmmmm a rear diff you can get it fixed under warranty. and you can just buy a set of fenders so if they get all scratched up you can put brand new on before selling it and those ones may fit on your next model you get.
