Hey I NEED SOMEONE other than myself that can tell DUNEADDICT that older 4 strokes
CAN BE MODED TO **** & GIT !!! Read my topic SOLD MY LT500 & you'll see his replies to

whats with you and making an ol 230 4 stroke sh1tin and gettin?its a waste of money if you ask me.buy a bigger displacement 4 stroke or 2 stroke.it will **** and get better and you wont have to put as much money into it.

Yea i think your on your own for this one BIGGONE. Why the hell would you sell a zilla and get an old 4-stroke? 4-Strokes are only starting to get good now. lol. Why did you sell your zilla to begin with?

i understand why he would sell his zilla...i remember him havin all the problems and everything...but i think it is kind of a waste to try and make an old 4 stroke faster...I had an old 87 230 at one time too, and almost did try and make it **** and git...but then i realized it was worthless because i would never get my money back from making it fast. So i sold it and got a better baseline quad to make faster. Im not tellin you to sell ur 250x...but for me it was the right decision in selling it. I was beating blasters and 300ex's...now im beating z400's, 400ex's, etc..

Guys all I need you to say is you can make them go fast ?? Now I'm not talkin faster
than a 2 stroke don't get me wrong, it's a simple question can you make them go faster than
stock?? Thats how this whole ball got rollin in the first place. All I wanted to do was get some good mods to make it perform better than stock and then Duneaddict started his crap about it's not
possible. Everyone should know that it's possible to mod a 4 stroke to be faster than stock

when they were half way to bein new, you could do mods to make them faster than they were stock.Same as it goes for the new 4 strokes of today of course their a bigger displacement,

Sorry Bigone, but I agree with Duneaddict. The newer thumpers are lighter, rev faster and have larger displacements than the older ones. That's what makes them worth modding. Yes, you can make an old 4 stroke faster than stock, but the improvements are marginal and you're starting with a really slow bike. The most you can expect from a 250X is to beat blasters, Z250's and 300ex's, not exactly sh!tters and g!tters.

But your NEVER gonna tell me that the older 4 strokes were impossible to make faster than "STOCK
FORM". It just ain't gonna happen. Anyone knows.. that you throw a pipe on, and do a little jetting,
and an airbox mod ,and there you have a faster than stock performer. LOOK... is it that hard to see
what I'm talkin about here or am I in a class above you all ???? All was askin plain & simple terms
was... what could " I " do to make it "FASTER THAN STOCK FORM". Ya know, give it "more torque"
"more power" "THAN STOCK FORM". I didn't say beyond the speed of sound, nor was I implying
"FASTER THAN A 2 STROKE". I meant " FASTER THAN STOCK FORM". "I wasn't sure" other than the "typical options" that I mentioned ABOVE, if there were any newer kinda mods out there
other than what I had mentioned, like maybe a aftermarket cam etc. that would" maybe"
make some more HP's for this older type machine, NO **** IT'S OLD.......WHO THE HELL IS'NT

Alright. I can see that BIGONE is getting his D#$k stomped on here so I'll jump in here to rescue him just a little. First, I don't agree that he should have sold his zilla. That's a sin in my book. Older 2 strokes will always rule. However, I do have an appreciation for the older 4 strokes, particularly the LT230, but I appreciate 250X's also. (Funny because I hate 300EX's. Not sure what my logic is on that one.) My experience is with vintage Suzuki's so I'll talk mainly about the 230 Qsport which is very similar to the 250X is performance. Obviously you can make any bike faster than it was stock. The question is how much. Powroll makes some big bore kits for the 230 qsport that bump it to a 273 and jump the compression up to 12.5 to 1. With that plus an aftermarket ignition, air intake, slightly bigger carb and a good pipe, you can probably get one to compete off the line with a bone stock 400EX except for the top end speed. The 230's were geared very slowly internally. Even so, you will be spending a fair bit and the end result will be a 15 yr old quad that's about as fast as a used $2500 - $3000 3 yr old quad. However, this isn't always a bad idea depending on BIGONE's allegiance to older vintage quads. Personally, I'd spend $2000 and several hundred hours on an 86 Qsport to make it as mean as I could before I'd buy a used 400EX for the same price simply because I grew up with a Qsport and I will always have a special place in my heart for them despite their flaws. It may not make sense money wise, but to me it brings back so many great memories that it's worth it.
Duneaddicts logic makes complete sense if your talking dollars and cents for performance. But if you factor in the value of seeing a quad in pristine condition that made you drool when you used to see them in brochures and dealerships in the mid 80's, it changes the equation.
