i tried taking the tranny apart to put the dalton kit in. how do i keep the whole thing from turning when i try to loosen the main nut? also what's the best way to clean the sheaves? looks like a little residue on the front one.

Hey....., I have never taken one apart, I hope to soon but I recall reading a post similar to this one on another board where someone stated that the main nut had left hand threads. I do not know but you may want to check into it before putting an impact to it.
Again I do not know but thought I had read that somewhere, anybody on here know for sure?

freetrapper- they are right hand threads. the impact made it real easy. thanks again vrz500tbx. the spring swap is real easy too if anyone is interested in doing it. if you do it yourself, DON'T buy the spring compression tool. they sell for 80 bucks. i made one for about 5 bucks. 12 inch piece of 1/2" threaded rod, 2 nuts, 2 washers, and a 2" pipe cap. someone posted about the tool on one of these forums, i can't remember who or what forum but thanks to whoever it was.
does anything need to be lubed after i clean it other than the shaft. curious if the rollers need any grease or not.

Good to hear, I was just wanting to be sure.
You should take pictures of the tool and some of the project to post. There are a lot of folks on here that would like to do that mod (myself included) and have not had the nerve to attempt it yet.
Did you put in the Dalton Seconadry spring (DPSS- P/Y) only or did you put in there whole clutch kit?

the whole kit. it ain't much though. it's only the spring and roller inserts. the new inserts didn't seem any different than the old ones. don't know if they make any difference. if not than it is probably cheaper to buy the spring only. real easy to do and pretty straight forward. dalton sends good instructions. camera is broke so no pictures of procedure. i looked at Fangos pictures before i started to see what the inside looked like. he has good step by step removal and cleaning thanks Fango. i'll take some pictures of the tool later with my friends digital camera. if you look at EPI's website you'll see the tool for way to much money.

Now for the big question, how are the results? Let me know what you think about it. Mine has never been a real rocket, now that I added the 26" Dirt Devils it has lost a lot of low rpm "pep". I am very interested in your results.

all back together. the initial hook-up is better. doesn't seem to lag as much when i take off. not much room in the yard to try it though. hopefully get out riding within the week to to see how much better it works. the guy at dalton said the kit would help keep the power up when climbing hills. i noticed a loss in power when climbing hills after i put the 26 inchers on. this feels like it will help. i'll let you know after i get a good chance to try it.
