Well, the missus gave me the ok to buy. I found a Kodiak for 5999 or a polaris Magnum 500 for the same price. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Have you looked at the Arctic Cats??

 

You can buy a Max for as little as $5600.

For that price I would go for the 500. I have heard nothing but good things about the Magnum 500's, there have been no REPORTED lemons of this model but the same is true with the kodiak.

The main question is which do you like better? Which fits you and your riding style better?

Can you please tell me what type of terain do you ride in? Which type do you ride in the most?

Here we go again. I like the Magnum But the Kodiak ain,t no slouch either. You will get a more comfortable ride with the Magnum has a little more suspension and a wider softer seat. You really should ride both of them and then make the call for yourself just to be on the safe side.

Boner-I want to use the quad mostly for hunting and trail riding. But not aggressive trail riding. I'm getting too old for that! I'd also like to put a plow on it. I know there havent been many reported reliability probs with the Polaris, but it still scares the heck out of me after seing all the negative press in the forum. I like the idea of the extra cc's and true 4wd. But on the other hand, the Kodiak should be more nimble in the tight stuff. Boy, what a decision!

The 500 sounds better for you.

The kodiak is alittle more sportier because it is lighter, smaller, alittle more nimble.

The Magnum 500 is, in my oppinion, Polaris's most reliable quad to date. So I dought you will have to worry.

The 500 does have True 4wd, but on ice this can make quad uncontrolabe if you start spining the tries. So when are you going to go ride them? It doesn't matter what we tell you, if you don't like it, it ain't worth it.
