should I buy a z400 or yfz 450? Rate your z400.

I have a utility quad and I am thinking about getting a sport bike. I really like the Dvx and the z400 but I might have enough money for the yfx 450. I am mainly going to trail ride and want to have fun. how do you like your Z and how does it ride and handle compared to the other sport bikes such as yamaha and honda? Do you recommend the z400? any problems or likes and dislikes? thanks

The YFZ was not designed to be a trail bike.
The Z400 and the 400EX are the best trail machines out there. The stock Z is a little weak on the low end, and the powerband is a little pipey for trail riding. A K&N, FMF PowerBomb Header, and Ti-4 Muffler, gave it the low end that the stock bike is lacking. And, when the trail opens up, the Z can fly out in the open country.

Ditto what recon said. The Z is a blast in the trails. In fact, one of my riding buddies rode his prairie all the time till he took my Z for a spin, now he has an 04 LE Z400.

Okay, need to make a correction, didn't realize my boyfriend was signed in. I'm Lolli2 and just posted with his name, so I love my Z. He loves his 400ex! Now I'm going to sign out and sign in under my name, lol!

I guess you can go with the yamaha and get the ole' shakes that most yami 's have and have fun pushing it back because of no reverse. Espeically with the brand new Z with all the Dope ***. upgrades it has, piggy back shock, new cams, etc............. I have a 03 kfx-400 and has to much low end power i think, the only thing those yzf's are better at is the drag race. Thats is the only quad i lose to in a drag race. Well i dont know right now i just got the hotcams installed and yet to race my buddys yzf. But if i start loosing i will have to hit that magic red button i just installed last weekend[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

I would also say the z/dvx. Have you considered the predator or raptor, I beleive the new preds have reverse, and raptors have it as well. Also the 450r is supposed to be the better trail quad, over the yfz.
I would just get the z400, to just mess around on, and the yfz or 450r to get aggressive!

If you want a faster quad and do everything that the Z400 does good then the Raptor or Pred would be a good choice. I just raced my friends Stock Z with my Stock Raptor and in 300ft on Pavement the Raptor won by about 6 quad lengths even switching riders. The Raptor just pulled away to.

Stock for stock I would hope the raptor does what you stated. As far as trails goes, the rappy dosen't have a chance depending on rider.
I would still choose the Z/KFX/DVX over all of them. Very easy to maintain, mod, and ride in any type of terrain.
