Hey all. I recently seen these guys going into a local lake of mine i pulled up in there talked to the one guy who had the ds650, it was a 01 model and it was piped, jetted and had no air box lid, so we headed out to do some drag races, mine completely stock 04ds650baja x. We lined up, took off and by the time i got into 4th i looked behind and he was about 3 quads behind me, and getting farther away fast. After the race, all his buddies came out so we all lined up again 450r beside me completely stock, 2 modified raptors, pipes the usual stuff and one wicked z400, we took off and to my surprise the z400 and me were ahead, i pulled away from the z400 and won the race i really thought that the 450r was gonna be right beside me untill i got into 4th or 5th and got my top speed...........im sure it had to have been the rider that couldnt drive the 450r but hey i won!! the z400 for sure had some major engine mods in it and Yoshimura pipe on the outside was all i could tell that it had. so the finaly results was this First place me on my ds650baja x Second place Z400 not stock, 450r, 01ds650, then two raptors

 

Great job showing them who's boss ! I have raced only 1 450r but was not that impressed. the guy weighs about 40 pounds less than me and when we were both stock I won time and time again (by about half to one quad length) in about about a one hundred fify yard drag. He cam out agian after getting the hop up kit and I had added a modified end cap, rejetted, and a Uni air filter. Now I beat him by more than a quad length. I know they are great machines but I wouldn't trade my DS for one.

you need to help your fello ds rider, give him some advice if hes willing to listen .If he is running the stock carb ( wich it sounds like he is) tell him to put his air box lid back and run a 172.5 main jet to see if it helps. he sould be doing better than that IMO void all this if you want to keep on beating him[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

yea i was thinking there must be something wrong with his DS or else he just a bad driver, ive noticed that when i take my air box lid off it gives me a tiny bit more very bottom bottom end power but takes my top speed away. And im glad i won against the others damn that was fun knowing i won against mostly all of the new fastest quads sept the yfz450 but it cant be much faster than the 450r. And the drag race was on grass was a bit wet out and was for about 700 feet, i could get to 120km/h in 700 feet on the gps
