This I posted this on another thread and thought that it would be fun to give your top ten.

try not to get too wordy, and don't flame or argue. Each is afforded their own opinion. Doesn't make them wrong or right, just makes them an individual.

Banshee's are the king of the modded bikes. An alky banshee with extended swing + a rider that is seasoned will mopp up 99% of the competition. Then again, most of them have 10 - 15Gs in their sleds.

That said, The DS was the fastest stock quad in production. Not sure if stock for stock, the YFZ can get it or not. VERY fast quads.

Piped, jetted, CDI (rev limiters removed on banshees) and ridden hard.... (no cams, or other internal mods)

I'd say the following:

1. DS (also the heaviest - Rotax is one bad mamma-jamma)
2. YFZ
3. Banshee
4. Raptor
5. 450r
6. Predator
7. Kawi 700
8. 400's (z, k)
9. 400ex
10. ?????

You'll notice that I didn't include the 250R. I have NEVER seen a stock one! With mods, I've seen those things as fast as Alky Banshees. They probably are as close to 250's as I am to bing 5ft tall. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

I have to agree with most of what you said and your list. I however have recently seen a bone stock 250r with original tires, warning labels, pipe and all in mint condition. Not to set off any fans of the 250r but stock it's not impressive. I already know it's modded potential. with that in mind here's my top ten

1. DS (biggest and baddest [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img])
2. YFZ (awesome performance but high maint.)
3. 450r
4. predator
5. banshee
6. raptor
7. 400 (z.k)
8. 400ex
9. kawi 700 (don't like auto)
10. 300ex

I feel this is an acurate list, but rider is the most important factor. I have seen a guy on a 400ex with lte dual exhaust waste a seriosly modded banshee, and I have been beaten by a predator by a more skilled rider.

 

1.Predator (love all the stock goodies)
2.Banshee (powerband is insane)
3.DS 650 (Bigwaynester's 760 sold me, awesome bike)
4.YFZ 450 (very quick)
5.450r (nice all around machine)
6.Raptor (only when modded)
7.400s (Z,K) (good trail bike)
8.Kawi 700 (not a big fan of the auto)
9.400ex (very reliable)
10.C Dale (odd bike)

 

i'd say the banshee, goes to the top with just pipes, if i understood that right, this would be racing in a line. at dunefest they had a timed course want to see something funny add some turns into a banshee path, not that they can't be made to do that but it affects the straight line ability. the 250r probably ruled that course. one of the things that i have been looking at is the 60 ft times my dune ready ds caught and passed the rail quadzilla in 60 ft, he took it back from there, but if that same rotax engine was in a simlar frame with no front brakes and all thinking the out come would have been much different, but again 200 extra pounds does have a way of slowing things down.

 

I diegress....

The top ten should be where you would place the fastest bikes.....

Mods allowed would be:

Piped, jetted, CDI (rev limiters removed on banshees) and ridden hard.... (no cams, or other internal mods)
NO real weight shaving (except exhaust).

One thing though..... has anyone seen a Quadzilla last an entire weekend at the dunes (being ridden of course)?

I'm serious, I've never seen one last and entire weekend of hill shooting.

BigD, I like your list however wondering where you've seen the fast 700's. My experience is that they are Dead Slow up the hill. On a level race, they seem to be much better, but really only through the first 2 - 3 gears.

Yes I have seen quite a few Quadzillas last all weekend. One of the guys I ride with has one and hes been riding it for the last 5 years with no major problems. The only thing I dont like about his bike is having to kick start it. With the compression hes running it takes a man to start it.

Yea, those Zilla's can be SICK fast. I know that they tend to BLOW up right under you. Seen it happen no less than a dozen times.
