Default 300 EX sprocket change HELP!!!!

I am looking for a little mor topend speed but I don't wan't to loose low end power. I have a 13 tooth on the front now i bought the bike used so i don't know what is stock. How many teeth can i go up to on the front without any problems i was thinking of going up to a 14 on the front. H ow much of a differance will that make in topend speed if i top out at 84 kph now. Or would i be better off changing my rear sprocket.. Help !!!!!

you can go up to a 13 in the front. it will add about 5 mph but it may take away a chunk of acceleration. you would be best off getting some 20 inch rears and then the sprocket because with just the new sprocket and the 22 inch rear it may not have enough acceleration for you

I have 20' rears now but I think I am just going to go down 2 teeth in the rear and keep the 13 in the front!

Yea that would be the best cuz w/ a 14 in the front you can't run your case saver thats why I am sticking w/ the 13 also. You will see a BIG difference I think w/ that gearing on the trail especially, I did that but I also did some major porting,WEB cam #3, hardend rockers, high comp piston,& 400ex carb w/ the porting it is great in 5th now, once it gets past 1/2 throttle it just wakes right up & wants to keep going & going

Oh NO NO NO you will like the difference!! As far as bottom end you might notice a small loss but don't think it's that noticable I CAN'T see your mods

Ok now I'm curious are you running the stock rear tires (22's)??? I would try a 36T rear sprocket & if that isn't enough & you aren't getting enough top end I'd say you need to do some mods I am impressed w/ the cam I put in, it's a WEB cam stage 3(254 grind I think) the pipe you have may be holding it back too, I dont' wanna bash it cuz I hate when people do that to me some of us can't afford to go crazy w/ mods I definetly understand that I've seen/heard the DJ isn't the best but I think it's to each his own!! I have the FMF Megamax right now & am wanting to get a different one but I can't afford it now, plus I'm gonna try to add a couple discs to see if that helps, would REALLY like to have a Yoshi or White Bros. one day!!
