Default Getting ready to buy...Banshee vs YFZ?

I have been out of the sport for almost ten years now. My last ATV was a '92 Banshee. I really love two strokes and the light weight of the Banshee. I know all I need to know about riding and maintaning the Banshee. Here's my question. I'm looking seriously at the YFZ. Will I be as happy w/ it as I was my Banshee? Does it feel as light? Does the power feel smililar, or is the difference night and day between the two? Am I going to be happy w/ the feel of the YFZ vs the Banshee. If I were to take them both to the track will I prefer one over the other?

I'm having a hard time convincing myself I want a four stroke this go around. For those of you who have a lot of riding experience on these two machines tell me why I should by the YFZ over the Banshee.

What about top speed? Is there a big enough difference between these two to make a difference?

It's obvious I won't have the opportunity to take the YFZ to the track or dunes for the weekend to see if I REALLY like it. Your opinions will help me out A LOT.

Sorry for so many questions all.

Thanks in advance,

Buck

Well Buck..you may not have realized this but you may have just started WWIII. Because there is word that the Banshee will be discontinued ..as will all 2 strokers(thats the word on the street)But research that yourself....They will still always be around...the big question is will you still be able to get into some riding areas with 2 strokes....4 strokers are the future..and I don't say that to be a smart a$$..boat motors, lawn mowers weed wackers, motorcycles....The YZF is a fast bike as is the banshee but the Banshee is the same as it was when it came out way back when..The YFZ is all new technology.Everything you need is already on it ..of coarse there is always room to add a little more.As this post goes on you will see Banshee haters and Banshee lovers....To me they are both YAMAHA and you wouldn't go wrong either way...Oh cr@p... I think I just pi$$ed off some Honda guys.

Heres what I think if you like to do alot of mx or jumping for that matter the yfz definitly has a big advantage due to its newer suspension design it is also set up to be a fairly competitive machine at mx.
As far as top speeds go I would say the banshee has a higher top speed but the yfz would have more low end power so it would be a close race ( depending on distance )
As far as things go with a banshee upgrades are much more easy to get and a banshee with a few good upgrades will smoke just about anything out there
I was faced with the same decision about a week ago and I had to choose between the raptor yfz and the banshee and i went with the banshee because nothin beats the rush of a 2 stroke

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

I do realize the Banshee is on the way out. This has been rumored for several years now. It's just a matter of time I guess. Not really an issue to me. I too love the rush of a good two stroke. That's the only thing holding me back right now. I now the power and speed that I'm used to and I don't want to buy something that's going to let me down in that dept.

As for the heated debate on two vs four stroke.....hopefully future replies to this thread will save their breath on this topic. I've been a die hard 2 stroke man for years.

Someone make this easy for me please!!!

Wow, decisions.

Okay, I'll make it easy for you.

I've been on two strokes and four strokes for the 13+ years that I've ridden ATV's.

I've ridden just about everything that's been made.

I own a YFZ, piped Raptor, piped/ported/carbed/etc Quadracer 250, and also a modded Blaster.

Ridden a ton of Banshees.

YFZ is the choice and it ain't even a contest to me.

But that's me.

Wow, you guys make it easy for me. LOL

Type of riding. Live in Arkansas. Riding will be trails, woods, fields, dirt roads, couple trips a year to the dunes, and possibly a trip here and there to the track. Money is not an issue for me when it comes to toys. If I can't have the best I won't buy.

Does the YFZ hit as hard under accelleration as the Banshee?

I guess it wouldn't hurt to do a search on this topic either.

I really appreciate your patience guys.
