I have Works on my 400's and really love them! For a 250X, you are probably just going to want something basic, right? Especially if you are looking to sell it.

ELKA has a great reputation, and can be found on a lot of race bikes. They are a newer company, and initially had some problems, but they seem to be worked out now.

I have Works on my Mojave and like them. I think that Works is an excellent shock for the price, so, they are more the working man's shock. Elkas are more expensive, but, I think they are more for the extreme riders or racers. JMO

elka designs their shocks for competition on a national scale. i was told by a rep at elka that they were working on coming out with a recreational line that would be a lot less money, kinda like the basic works shocks. works has their recreational versions of their shocks, and they also offer the competition ready shocks. i decided to go with works mostly cuz of the price, but also because of the 30-day garuntee. i didn't have the x-tra money for the compression and rebound adjusters, and with the garuntee works will dial in the shocks for me. if ur lookin at spendin the money on high dollar shocks, u might also want to look at custom axis, my buddy has a set of custom axis on front (400ex) and he doesn't freestyle and he loves em.

i would recomend the elka over the works i have ridden both and i now own elka, one thing to consider is that most works but NOT all come from nthe factory set for your weight and riding stile, all Elka come that way, they also are going to last longer before your first rebuilding. i would go with a triple rate but dual rate is good and go ahead and get rezy's because you can always upgrade but you can get better deals up front

all of works shocks (for sport ATV's) r built to order. they take into account everything they need to know, and they have that 30-day garuntee, which is nice. the only issue is that the turn around time could be weeks.

If you are gonna keep it Elkas
if you plan on selling it then Works, both are good shocks and a big difference over stock, but Elkas are best
