Is the Vortex CDI worth it?
#3
well i was just sittin here thinkin(cuz i'm bored, got nothin 2 do), and like before when there was only RWR and Graydon which are like $300 or so and theres the Vortex which was $400 which was all adjustable and all the great stuff,so for the extra 100 it'd be worth it, but now that the procom(and its clones) is out for like $130, I don't see why you'd pay extra for a RWR when theres no rev limiter on it, and i was just thinking of when i'd really use the extra curves, or maybe if i just bought a procom now and later on i found that I would really like more curves(like if i went big bore or sometin) then i could still get the Vortex, or even the MSD,
i don't know, i'm just rambling on here, lol

i've got 2 woods cdi both have been excellent, have raced msd and vortex machines as far as power out put i'm not sure, but all the features are nice. the msd would be my choice over the vortex that studder start is great.

Yea, the msd is what I will end up having, the 2 step is nice also having a high speed retard is nice also, and having activation switched is good. I like my vortex though. I would much rather have it then the woods.

I was really sold on the Vortex CDI features, But the price kept me away. I took the easy way out and ordered the Procom CDI once it comes in I will give you the low down on it. But I have nothing to compare it to but the stock CDI, which I have now.

bajarider when that procom comes send it back,
they have a terrible reputation ... they always burn up and are constantly
broke..they pride themselves on quick customer service and how fast
they send out new ones..if they werent always f*&^ed up this wouldnt be an issue.
i do the same type of riding as you and cant figure whick one either--alba has one too!
adjustable curves is nice with the vortex, but if i know myself i will
probably move it a few times in the beginning and never again

Ok, I agree with Chiro about only using it at first. That is how mine was. However, I now really only use two settings, The power map that is always there, for drag racing, and I think number seven, which is a linear map. I ride with this map most of the time, It is great, and when your machine dips down in rpms when your working it, this map helps it keep pulling and pulling and pulling. It was hard to swallow the cost, and if you can find a good cheap replacement, I would go with that. But the only thing I have heard of that is more reliable than the vortex, is the Ds, cant go wrong there. Good luck
