Imagine if quads were Street Legal throughout the USA.

i imagine it'd be pretty hard on the tires. being that they are always spinning at the same speed would make constant corners on asphalt/concrete like a cheese grater (sp?)

It would be sweet fo sure. there is a street legal production quad in eroupe 85hp 76ft/lb tourqe or sompin. here is a lil blip on it.

America is screwed. although you can throw a singe street bike swing arm on the back of your quad and it can be classified as a trike. not to much work to throw on some blinkers

i guess it wouldn't be that bad..... but then we'd have to rename all the right hand lanes the polaris lane

yeah I know what you mean about a locker in a car but its a little different on a fourwheeler. I am sure that you have hit a strip of pavment somewhere on your quad havent you?? It is harder to drive but its not unbearable or anything like that.

I have ridden atvs on pavement since 81 and I thought they would be pretty safe on the road until this weekend. I took a motorcycle safety course to get my motorcycle endoresment and it really changed my mind.
The bottom line is that when moving at speeds of 30 + mph swerving or changing direction is very difficult compared to a bike, especially in emergency situations. I'm not taking about a big Utility atv either, I had a full race 250r with zps shocks (see my gallery) and compared to my new bike I can now see the difference and danger in operating a quad at 70 or 80 mph on asphalt.

Rob,
You're right, the quick emergency moves (roll-over city) that trouble the SUV market would kill ATVs on the road. A lot of people would be getting hurt and killed because morons in cars that don't see bikes likely wouldn't see quads either.
