How did you do it? How far were you jumping and how much do you weigh? Since i can't find another stock shock, it looks like i'm going to have to buy some works, but i'm on a tight budget so i don't know if i really need to get the upgraded shaft.

When I bought mine, the upgraded shafts were standard for the DS. They didn't offer the smaller shafts for the DS.

Obviously, I went with the larger ones. Why risk it.

well thats the thing, on the works site, they want 450 for them, on alba its only like 370, and when i was at magic they told me 360(but i think they were just giving me the normal price for the 400's), plus i'm on a very tight budget to get my ds back together so i don't want to spend more than i have to, i'd much rather find a stock shock(much cheaper),

Be carefull, I have shattered works tripple rates with the 5/8 shaft piggyback res.. I wiegh 220lbs I think They were 5/8s. I went off about a 12-15 ft sand dune and was kinda flat landing 40 ft out, they were blowing oil everywhere and all, they did good the first few jumps but not for long. The stock shocks are the best .IMO
I also had the stadium series in the back, that one shatter when my swingarm broke, but I think it would have been ok. I would still feel more comfortable w/ stockers. I wouldnt wast your money. For moderate riding they might do good.

Annihilater-i would stay with stock shocks, but one of my has a 45 degree bend in the shaft, and nobody seems to have a stock shock that they want to part with, so i only have two choices, spend like $260CA for a stock shock with no spring or like $450US for the works

Annihilater- Isnt that asking a bit much from any shock to flat land from 12-15 foot vertical even 40' out ? not to mention the weight of the DS + the weight of the average rider? Just curious but what did you do to bust a rear swingarm AND shatter the rear shock ??????
You are right tho, the stockers can take some abuse for sure ... the big bummer with the front stockers is that they are not rebuildable or adjustable.

Oh yea .. I have the Tripple Rates W/ Rezzies on the front and the smaller shafts They are a much better ride than stock for sure but if all I did was ride MX than a step up to the Olins or one of the other High$ might be in order.

lilnotts.....
Get the 5/8" shafts and be done with it. If you buy some stockers again then you end up buying another set down the road when they wear out. If you buy the Works, then when they start to fade you send them in and get them serviced for a fraction of the cost. And when they are in for service if you want to tweak the performance you can! ....Stockers ?? Sorry No Can Do !

Well thats another way for you to look at it ....

lilnotts: I to bent a stock shock. It came apart internally and overextended. It luckilly bent when i dropped the front out of a wheelie.

I upgraded to the works triple rates, compresion adjust only, with piggybacks and the smaller 1/2"shafts. I have allready messed up and cleard a jump at the MX track and came down on the flat, dropping from about 12-15 in the air, 4th gear, out 40 to 50 feet, landing on the flat, no downward ramp landing at all. I went to fast and cleared the landing. Bent my rear axle and hurt my back a bit. Front works triple rates bottomed lightly, but compression was only at 18 out of 24 clicks on the adjusters.

No bends, no problems. I assumed i was getting 5/8 shafts, but they came 1/2" from denis kirk. It was pricey, but i wish i would have spent the extra cash and got a shock with both compression and rebound adjusting, as well as 5/8" shafts for sucurity. More cash adn i'd have gotten all 3 elkas, but i couldnt afford t do the rear and was desprate to get it fixed...

Dont waste your time with the works shocks that have no rezzies at all. They mistakenly sent me the $300-400 that looks like the stock unit with dual rate springs and no rezzies. I removed the springs and compared to stock. The stock units have way more compression and rebound dampening then the non rezzi works shocks. At least with the way the ones i was sent were valved. You could allways get the non rexzzi works, and revalve them, but your cash ahead to at get the compression adjust.

I run 8-10 clicks in the trails, and 18-24 at teh track. I ride very hard, and love to jump. Im 200Lbs.....

I love my works tripple rates, but want to add more rebound dampning, and its a rebuild to do it without the "dual" adjust rezzies...........
