Hi guys, I am new to the forum. I have a problem with my 2000 500 HO. THe reverse lmiter is stuck in the on position. Forward, neutral, reverse it is on. And the reverse limiter button will nor over ride it. The button is working I think, because when I have the bike in reverse and push the button in 4x4 the 4x4 light comes on. Any ideas? Thanks. u will have to test to see what output is coming from ur shifter. the bike may think it is in reverse all the time, the slecter may not be sending the proper signal. It all leads back to the speedo cluster. all the elecronics for these are in the sppero head. can be pricy to replace one.

 

I have access to another bike and switched the speedo head. No such luck. Same problem.

 

id say most likely a broken wire, or a shifter switch problem

 

So here is the rest of the story. It acted just like an elecrical problem. Turns out the bike would run fine with the air box lid loose. That eliminated the limiter. I took the carb apart and it was clean. It was starving for air. As it turns out, the diaphram was bad. It was letting air around the slide. Go figure.
