Default K & N Filter for Trucks.....

I was thinking about buying a K&N High Flow Air Filter for my truck. My friend has one on his F-250 Diesel, but says the power will be more noticable on my F-250 V-10. Has anybody put one on their V-10??? And does it make much of a difference?? I do know that the air is really restricted with the stock filter, and would like to open "my baby" up a little and let her breathe....

If you really want to make her breathe then do a complete kit like Banks Power Pack or simmilar. A K&N alone won't do much at all.

I put one of those K&N cold air intakes on my V8 GMC and it came with a dyno graph showing a 9hp gain. I installed along with a Gibson performance exhaust.

My impression.....
I feel my 0 to 60 times are slightly slower but my 30 to 60 times are quicker. I think some of the low end was lost do to less velocity. I can "feel" a slight improvment at the higher rpm's and a slight loss at the lower.

Not sure if you're thinking of getting the cold air intake or just the filter to put inside your stock system but I would'nt expect to "feel" any gains. HTH

For your v10 definetly get the power programmer its worth the money. ALso look into exaust, i reccomend borla. Also if you want the ultimate get a supercharger. Its going to run you about 4000 bucks but 50% more power for towing.

The power gain from an air filter will not even be noticeable, the only difference will be reusing your filter rather than throwing it away.

If you drive your truck in anything dusty, might want to reconsider. The K&N will let more of that through your engine than a stock filter and the gain in power might not be worth the dirty MAF and Throttle Body. Ive seen more than a few MAF's die of K&N over-oiling or under filtering.
