need help with jetting. i put the hot seat exgaust on my scrambler 500. i put the recommended jetting. 42.5 pilot, needle on 4th clip, 160 main . problem is when throotle is peggeg and i let of it backfires loud.i really dontknow much about carbs. any help would be appreciated. problem is the better half is on butt about always messing with this thing. also is it typical to be getting about 35 miles to a full tank of gas with this exhaust . thanks

 

sounds like it might be a little bit lean up top... try 1 size bigger on the main jet.

 

My HPD exhaust will pop sometimes if I let it wind out and then quickly let off the gas. From what I was able to gather, it is just the nature of a more open exhaust. I was running a 160 main jet with the pilot screw 2 turns out (?). Everything else was left stock. I now have the HPD air box mod that that has changed. But HPD did not recommend doing anything with the pilot jet or needle for my application. I can usually get betweeen 40-50 miles on a tank, depending on how I am riding.
