IDC GPS Mount on DS650
#1
Has anyone tried one of the IDC ATV mounts on a DS650? IDC GPS Mounts
I have a gpsmap 76cs and I'm looking for a simple secure mount. I'm debating about one of these vs the RAM mount. My concern with the ram mount is that the ball mount setup can move from the shock of jumps and such.
any ideas?

I have the Garmin IIIplus (somewhat heavy) and use the RAM mount with ball on my DS, KTM 440EXC, and Polaris Scrambler and have never had it move. I've jumped high and long enough to bend the axle on the DS and the mount stays put.

If you have the room you could go with the garmin handlebar mount.
I've talked to a 2 guys that have them and they say they haven't had any problems with them, I have the GPSmap76 and that the one I'm probably going to get

I have been running the IDC gps mount for a few years now. I first had the billet clamp for my sand rail. Then I ditched the clamp and just used the holster part and mounted it directly to the handlebar cross bar. I have mine wired with a 12v plug. This gets rid of the vibration problems associated with the batteries. Its also great because I can leave the back light on for extended time on night runs.
I have pics on my pic page..
Oh yeah, my gps is the eTrex

I got a garmin mount for my GPS III+ and it didn't work out, it holds the unit close to the bars and could not work it out to clear everything on the bars, The ram mount is the unit to get IMHO and is what I use

I have the RAM Ball mount on my quad - it WILL NOT move from jumps. It will move if it rolls -- Did that last weekend - GPS is fine.
You should be more concerned about how many G's the GPS will take on the jump. There are very few that can take more than 9g's.
