I like the nerf bars, looks like they sould save a few fllorboards. Have you ever had them get hung up on anything? Do you notice the ground clearance loss?

I can hear the rocks hit them ... but didn't seam to hang up on rocks or fallen trees ... i may have lost 1/2" of ground clearance at most in the middle ... they taper upward quickly. I was thinking about adding some steel plating to the bottom of them to smooth out, but taking the wait and see.

Nice work on your quad. I picked up a 2004.5 500ho 2 days ago. I traded in a 01 325 magnum 4x4 and the difference is incredible! From the mods you've made to yours i can assume you do some pretty aggressive riding as I also do. Why buy a 4x4 to ride wimpy easy trails? I notice from the pics that you are still running the badlands tires that everyone on these boards seem to hate with a passion. I have not taken my new machine into any mud or rough terrain yet and I was wondering what your take on these tires is. Have you had any flats or noticed poor traction in the mud. From what I've read the sidewalls are 2 ply and weak. My old machine had 489's and I was more than happy with them as imho reliability is more important than a smooth ride. Can't wait to take my new sportsman to the western ny southerntier's hills this weekend and ride the old overgrown logging roads. Let me know what you think of the rubber. Thanks.

I have been happy with these tires... i've gotten a couple of flats, mostly caused by small tree stumps going though the tred. They are avg tires for mud, trails, and rocks. I'm waiting to wear them out before replacing them, with ITP 589's.

BTW; i patch the tires and then use a tube also ... all the tires i've patched/tubed have never had a hole again ... i also run them a 6psi.
