should i get a sportsman 400,500 h.o.,or a 2005 kodiak 450? what is the best bang for the buck? PLEASE HELP

 

What do you plan on using the ATV for?

 

500HO as far as I'm concerned. I'm very happy with mine, considered the SP400 and glad I didnt get it because I love the extra power of the 500. Someday down the road I might go bigger with a 700.

 

I plan to do some camping hunting but mostly trail riding and mud

 

In that case, I really do think the SP500 would be the better choice. Go ride all 3 if you can and see which one and which features you like best

 

There is no doubt that the SP500 HO is a fine machine, and always a good choice, but I think the 400 is underrated. A properly clutched and jetted 400 runs very well, and is every bit the equal of the non-HO SP500 as well as every other 400cc class machine.

The SP400 is a good machine at a lower price. If you don't plan on going up to a 26" or 27" tire, the 400 is a good choice, IMO.

 

how about any other quads

 

Hi. If you are looking for a 500 the sportsman is a strong choice. However if a 400 is more appealing I would look at the Rancher AT or The Outlander 400.

The 500ho is a very nice quad. When it comes time to replace mine, I will get another 500ho. Anyone looking to buy needs to ride all models he is looking at. For what you want, I think you would love IRS and a auto tranny.
