I have both and I prefer the 400 it has enough power and gets better MPG and the engine is smoother than the 500. I like both but for the extra money the 500 is not worth it!

Check out the incentive on the 04s if your buying new. I got my 04 sp600 for $300 more then the sp400 even after its incentives, and the 04.5 for $500 more. Both where cheaper then they had the 500ho's priced at.

don`t buy a polaris 500ho!!! i have a 04 and have spent 1700.00 in repairs in 1 year and have only 2700 miles, most of the guys i drive with have older bikes-96-suski 300,93 honda 300,98 kawi 400,04 kawi 700 and between them added up have not spent 1000.00 in repairs.polaris has the best ride of them all but they are NOT the most durable.
