The 300EX is still a 282 or 281, not sure which, Honda and the magazines all say 282 and the engine says 281, so I'm not sure which is right, but its definately not a 297, at least not from the Honda website.

A Stock 300ex has a bore of 74 mm and a stroke of 65.5 mm and seeing as how volume (displacement) = (πr^2)*h or (1/2 of the bore (r) squared times pi( π ) times the height of the cylinder (stroke)) then 1/2 of 74 is 37 so:

( π ) (37^2) * (65.5) = ( π ) (1369) * (65.5) = ( π )*89669.5= 281075.0425 mm^3

divide by 1000 to convert to cc so 281075.0425/1000= 281.0750425cc

so there ya go, offcially the displacement is 281.07 cc

I also believe it was Dirt Wheels that said that the Z250 had a manual clutch, but hey, they are Dirt Wheels.
