2001 ds 650 or 02 raptor?or Keep Mojave?
#1
I have a choice to buy a used ds 650 for 3000 or raptor for 3500.Id like to know the Pros an cons of each bike an there reliability factor, parts costs etc.I know the Yammie had bad trannies for a, year or 2 an I really dont want it to be an issue of spending even more money after I sell my Mojave if I do that.SOme 1 I know went w me an he really didnt give me an answer On which 1 I should buy,he said Its what You prefer.1 last thing I noticed when they were 1s started they puffed alil smoke is this a precursor to a rebuild, they cleaned out an didnt do it after that.I ride mainly woods,no dunes an I love to jump wheelie an go fast an even tho the MOjave is a great trail bike I think Im starting to outgrow it.

if that 450 deal falls through, buy the ds,it kicks out more horse power than the raptor,it would also help if u have a bombardier shop near u. the raptor might have trans problems not only that the raptor is lighter and fits better in the trail condition there both good machines but its realy up to u

What kind of trails do you ride in joisey? If they are narrow and lined with trees you may not like the DS because it's really wide. It's a great desert bike though.
Why such a huge jump from a Mo to a 600+cc bike?

for less money I would go with the ds, if its in good condition. As far as width that is a myth that started somewhere, if 3" extra width is too much you're riding on trails narrower than I have ever seen. Sure you have to be a little careful, but its not that big of a deal. My 00's reliability has been excellent, and the suspension and handling are great. My motor is still stock, and I'm not a bit embarrassed, ridden hard it will keep up except on the highway withe really modified quads, but I don't ride on-road. The best thing to do is beg a ride on each where you ride, if at all possible, personal experience beats advise from strangers every time!
