i bought a 2001 ds650 on ebay and the previous owner gave me a lot of parts that he change and among all the parts there was a new k&n filter and i tryed to put it on but the hole on the filter it is a lot smaller than the one on the atv so i don't know if i need any kind of adaptor for it. any help?

 

could it be that the K&N filter is the direct carb mount type?

 

how can i know? do it have to remove the airbox?

 

Just take off the one side of your intake snorkle and fold it back enough to get the filter in there to see if it is a direct mount(to carb). All you will need to do is loosen one hose clamp nothing major
