Best mod for low end power
#4
Best ways to get more low end power.... more compression, or more CCs, or both. A high compression piston and bore/hone cost the same as or less than most exhaust systems but their a bit harder to install. Go to high and youll be running race gas. Big bore kits are sometimes are easy, sometimes not.. Same goes for their price. Depends on the motor.

Well said Jackal. I would say, start with a pipe. If that's not enough, increase your compression. Then try an aftermarket cam and port/polish job. How mean can you afford to be?

Smaller dia. tires will increase the power on the low end. A smaller diameter carb, will increase the velocity of the mixture and will improve the low end. A cam change to one with the properties you want, and a bump in compression. All these are tradeoffs, what you gain down low , youll lose on the high end.
Most pipe and jetting changes improve the midrange and high end.
Too bad you didnt get the 450 kodiak, it has a low range, which really improves the low end torque, getting to the tires.

big bore and compression wont hurt their top end though since those motors dont rev high enough to notice the extra piston weight or increased pumping losses.

I would strongly agree with everyone else. Speaking about carbs the edelbrock gave me a nice punch in the lows and mids, and a tuneable accelerator pump will give you an awesome response if you don't already have one. One of those torque stuffers are a really cheap way to add a little punch in the low end also.
