Sport ATV's vs. Utility ATV's? Which is better?

I am in the market for a new atv. I have no experience and the question seems to keep comming up, which is the better bike to buy. It seems to be a debatable topic and I was woundering if any of you had any experience with owning both a sport and utility quad or mabye know someone who has. I want to do more of the sport type of riding like; Sand, River bottom, outdoor trails, ect. I heard that most of the guys that buy Sport ATV's tend to come back a year later and buy a utility quad. I am looking at the YFZ 450 and just don't want to come back in a year or two and say that I would rather have a utility. I am mostly conserned with the wieght, agility, and jumping abilities of a utility quad. Mabye you can offer some advice.

For me, I need both. In the winter (80 degrees and clear blue sky!) we ride the desert, where a well suspended sport bike is the ticket. Out there, you would be totally miserable bashing big whoops on a huge heavy ute.
In summer, when the desert is to hot, we ride the cool mountains. Lots of big rocks, stream crossings, some snow, etc. Here we need the high clearance of a ute. A low slung sport bike would just get hung up all the time.
The YFZ is a fairly specialized MX machine! I have found it to be a pretty poor trail ride. You might want to consider a more well rounded sport bike, like the Z400 for example.

one of these website magazines did a test on the kodiak 450 i think it was this one and they said that it was pretty fast and stuff and they jumped it off a 5-6ft jump and didnt bottom out the suspension and they said it was a smooth landing to. the dealer said to me cause i asked him what he thought was better and he said the Grizzly 660 can go 66mph and can wheelie easy to. and it can jump also. its also got all wheel independent suspension and a locking 4wd and 11.8" ground clearance. the vinson is also a nice sport/ute along with the KingQuad700 and brute force 750.

I think it depends on terrain. If it's fairly open, go with a sport. If your trails are tight (or lots of mud), go with a ute.
But no way in any circumstances can you throw around a 600lb ute like you can a 350lb sport. Apples to oranges. A sport like the yfz is going to be quicker and more agile.
