if your crank case breather runs into your snorkel tube, it causes a vacume that suck the oil out. it use to happen to mine.

Are you sure that it isn't just excess K&N oil that you put onto the filter element. It is very unlikly that you have motor oil dripping off the K&N filter. Of corse you didn't say that you did....So if there is motor oil in the bottom of your air box it had to get there through the breather vent tube. This tube is conneted to one of the snorkel tubes that run into the air box. If you sit on a steep hill for any length of time with the front of the quad pointing down. It may collect motor oil in the breater tube. Then when you start the bike and head down the hill the oil continues to get pushed into the line and up into the snorkel. Other causes are more serious. Like blow by on the rings.

ok last night i was changing my tie rods and i pulled the plastic off and checked that hose that goes into the intake tube and it was dry as a bone!! a little dusty thats all but when i had it standing on the grab bar for about an housr i dropped it down and my air box has some gas in it about a half of a cup and its comming from the tube that goes to the carb im guessing...? i stuck my hand in there and i did smell gas on it but why would this happen? i noticed that my k and n had some gas on it too so guessing its sucking in some gas how can i fix this?? and why is this happening

If you are running your oil level too high you will get oil in your air cleaner thru the breather tube.
If your choke is staying partially on it could cause gas in the breather.

Ok, get this...I have a very similar problem as well. I cleaned my air filter today, and i have a bit of oil on the carb side of the filter...some stains on the filter itself, and a bit in the bottom of the airbox.....From what common sense would ring in and what you guys say, bingo...the breather tube.

However, I have my snorkles cut shorter, and by crankcase vent rerouted, resulting in it not venting into my snorkles, just open air. Explain this one to me?
PS, it's not filter oil, I ran out the last time i cleaned it, so there wasn't much on there in the first place, let alone to even possibly be excess from it.
