ricer flyby

Perhaps someone can enlighten me on the reasoning behind a ricer flyby? I took a 01 cobra 'vert home from work the other day, and on the way back to work the next day, I had a riced out civic pull up next to me at a light, and its fart cannon exhaust starts roaring. I spanked him off the line, and got out of it about 70. Was on my brakes for about 10 seconds and he comes roaring past me and turns his flashers on like he won. Next traffic light, same thing, 'cept I waited for him to try to do his flyby, and spanked him again.. Do they actually think they win when you are obviously slowing down?? O, other question.. How many hp does a civic gain from stickers?

yeah, i figured that. I just wondered how much you have to beat them by so they don't claim victory by racing long after the faster car hits the brakes. I can just see it now. "I just beat a mustang, yo. He pulled me outta da hole, but my mad tyte shiftin' skillz let me pull him on the top. I'm just lucky I didn't blow my intake welds."

I used to get this type of behavior from Hardley riders when I was on my 82 GS1100E. Pretty standard looking bike... that has dominated the 1/4 mile for 20 years.
They pull up, Screaming Eagle intake covers boosting their confidence, and rip the throttle a couple times. Once they restart it after flooding it out, they want to race you off the line.
So I watch them pull through the intersection, and launch when they cross the other side, just to save them a little bit of their dignity. By second gear, they are a small vibrating smudge in my mirror. I'll drop it down and start cruising... a week or so later they finally catch up, throttle pegged, and rip past me a good 5-10mph faster than my 4th gear cruising speed. Somewhere down the road, they sit at a light next to me with a superior smirk like they somehow... won.
Mind boggling, really.

V-max was definitely the shizzle in my book, although real close was the V-65 Magna.

This is hear say I have no proof other than readins in the past.
I think the 2005 is a 11.3 second quarter mile bike stock which is not shaby for a cruiser.
