subject sums oit up, My scrammy was about a quart low on oil yesterday and I was at my dads house. He gave me some 2stroke oil he uses in his polaris watercraft here in florida, and his client (local polaris dealer whovised it was same as polaris stuff) reccomends. Basically I was told it was the same and before I run it did some research and it doesn;t look to be the same.

I am in florida if some of the other ratings are for colder climates, my quad will be in as warm of weather as his jetski.

I feel its best to ask before I go and try to ride and blow my motor or something.

its the 400 scrambler so its a 2-stroke....Im not sure if it would be bad. a friend of mine ahd a trailblazer 250 he blew up because he couldnt get polaris oil so he bought amsoil. combining the amsoil and polaris oil that was still in the tank somehow made the oil almost as thin as water. you cant be too cautious, better safe then sorry. Id drain it, buying new oil is much cheaper than a new engine.

Its fine oil. Any oil rated TCW 3 is good. I wouldnt waste my money on that amsoil stuff. Its all overrated hype.

I'm certainly not an expert on this subject, but I'll put in my 2 cents anyway. I have a friend who ran a lesser quality oil in his 85 HP outboard 2 stroke boat motor. It ended up needing major engine work prematurely. He will tell you that he KNOWS it would not have happened if he had stuck with Quick Silver (Mercury outboard oil). Anyway, in your case I would stick with the Polaris stuff for now on. I understand this was a one time thing for you, and I don't know about the substitute oil you used. I'm just saying I would go back to the Polaris stuff regardless and stick with it, even if it turns out to have been OK.

HA HA HA HA what a Jackass....i happen to be an amsoil dealer and anyone who runs it will tell you that it is the best stuff going. Its funny that you say its all hype, Amsoil happens to be the offical TWO CYCLE oil of the WSA Snocross World Wide Championships, and DJ Eckstrom just won the indoor snocross tittle. Hum now let me think all hype huh...is that why HPD, HOTSEAT, TRINITY, recomend running there oils?

And for it being a waste of money? once again your wrong *big surpirse* amsoil is over $4 cheaper than Polaris

I hate making people look stupid but i think this was called for *shrugs*

Hey CincyScrambler,

I know your post wasn't meant for me. I have to admit I don't know what the TC-W3 oil is Conig is asking about. Is it Amsoil? And if it is, well, you sell the stuff. Iv'e heard people rave about it. Can you tell us what TC-W3 is?

Amsoil is nothing but a pymarid system for selling oil. Use it if you like and spend your money. I have always used the cheapest TCW3 oil I could find and have had zero problems in my ATV's , Snowmobiles, or my outboards. Call me a jackass if you like. It shows your lack of maturity. And I never said I used Polaris oil. I use chevron at about a $1 a quart. And anyone can buy Amsoil and call themself a dealer. It only takes what a $10 membership fee? As far as I know TCW3 is a oil grade required by all manufactors making two strokes. This includes snowmobiles, ATV's, Outboards, etc.

At least you guys mean what you say and say what you mean! Hey Snowwolf, How are things up there at Eagle River? I used to read about a fella and his trap line up that way. Use to dream about trapping in Alaska myself. I lost the thirst in it and just see what I can from the quad. Anyway, have a good winter and good hunting to you and the rest of our neighbors in Alaska. This Amsoil thing may turn into a flare. I'm gona sign off before it gets too hot.
