2002 scrambler 500 4x4 trouble
#1
scrambler battery dies while riding. It will stay charged for ever if I don't ride. Is there an alternator or something else that charges the battery during opperation? Any help would be appreciated

You might want to check for a short in the wiring somewhere. Also, is it possible the problem lies in the starter not cranking efficiently when hot? Does it still have the problem once the engine has cooled sufficiently?

thanks.
once it cools the problem is still there. You can see the head loghts getting dim the longer you ride. It atcs just like a car when the alternator is going bad

sounds like a possible short. Have you checked the output voltage of your charging system? Is your wiring altered in any way or have you recently added any new electrical accessories? might want to check there first

It works just like an alternator. I believe that it is next to or bolted to the flywheels inside the recoil housing
