Default MX racing at Sacramento Raceway Dec 5

For all of you quad riders in the Sacramento area, I have finally talked my promoter into allowing quads to race on the mx track at Sacramento raceway park. The event will be held Sunday Dec 5, gates open at 6:30am, practice starts at 8:00am and entry will be $30 with no membership fee or card required. I have been bugging him for over two years now and if we can show a decent turn-out, I know that he will make it part of next seasons series. For more info go to www.sacramentoraceway.com and click on the motorcycle section. Thanks for your support. Jerry

I was wandering if anyone had any info about class's and rules and stuff like that.
I called WEST COAST ATV and confirmed that the race will be open for ATV's.
How tight of a track is it. is it wide enough for so ok passing or are we going to be baging bars to get by?

The track is similiar to Marysville. In some spots its probably 4-5 quads wide and other spots its wider. We're also lengthening it, adding a few more straight stretches so you can really open it up. Basically this is going to be a test run for quads to see what kind of turn out we will get. The promoter is finally giving me a chance to run quads out here. So the bigger the turn out the better. Since this is the first run, classes haven't been set in concrete but it will probably consist of Beg, Nov & Pro classes. Basically the same as all the other track around here but it all depends on turn out. For safety equipment I recommend tether kill and nerf bars for the quads but will probably not be enforced due to being the first race for quads. As for the web site - It probably isn't going to have any info for quads but I'll work on the promoter to change it. It should be an awesome event. Please respond if you and/or freinds plan to attend and level of riders you guys are to help determine classes. Thanks again, Jerry

I'm seriously thinking about entering, I need tires , sprocket and so on. If I enter I would enter novice. I am a experienced rider but this would be my first race. I am talking to some of my friends about it I think they are chickin. I will keep you posted.
I used to be pretty good friends with the owners of Sac raceway, And he told me along time ago that I could ride the track if I wanted too, but that was several years ago. What is going on out there in the mean time? Is there a way I can see the track before the event? It would be very helpful if I knew what I was looking at as far as number of laps or How long each race will be. Thanks.

Hope to see you guys out there. Tell your friends to sack up! There's nothing to be affraid of. It is normal to be nervous before the race starts but once the gate drops, addrenaline kicks in and its all fun after that. I have experienced no other riding that is as fun and exciting as racing mx. The track won't be real difficult so anyone can ride it. Race will probably consist of 2 moto's, 3-5 laps each. Unfortunately there will be no practice at the track until the day of the event.

It sounds like it would be good to do considering we need more quad tracks that will run mx in central and northern cal, but it is on a real bad weekend - You have, Mutant at Club moto, CMA series, Glen Helen ITP, and BITD in Vegas. A lot of the intermediate and Pro riders will probably hit the southern ca. races and the local guys will hit the others.

Good luck

I didn't realize this was you Jerry!!
This is Tom from a couple streets down. How long have you been working at the raceway?
Do you work the whole raceway or just the mx track. Maybe we can get together and shoot the bull.
By the way I thought you were done racing mx, since the incedent at Riverfront.

Just work the mx track, been there for 2 years. I haven't raced for about 2 years I guess. In fact I haven't even ridden the R for over a year now. I tried to sell it to get a yfz but that didn't work out. Just been dunin with my ds. I've had the itch to start racing again, so I figured I'd start with this race. Kind of curious also to see how the old R will run with all those fast new 4 strokes. Swing on by if ya want to chat it up.

You said that there is no practice until the race. I took a drive out there this last weekend and looked at the track. Is it possible that you could hook up with the guy and try to get him to let quads out there maybe the week before or something and let us have an hour to two hour practice on it. If so that would be great.
I'm coming from the Modesto area - I was going to do one of the other races - but I'm always for promoting a new track for us to run on - so maybe I might make it. I've let some of the guys I run with know about it too! but its just a bad weekend for it.

Let us know and maybe enough can commit to come out for a practice run.
