Default Heated grips and Trunk Brake light wiring....where?

Hello all,

I have a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. Extreme. I have added a Kimpex deluxe trunk with heater grips. I am looking for recommendations on how and where to wire the heated grips and the brake light to the ATV. I am new to ATV's and do not want to mess up my wiring system. I would also like to remove the trunk at times, so making it easy to disconnect wiring would help also. Thanx for any and all responses. Happy Trails to you!!

I've not messed with heated grips since my snowmobile days of yore, so I won't make a recommendation on that. The manual shows an orange (brake), red/white (tail) and brown(ground) going to the tail/brake light - should be able to splice into what you need there.

I am having the same problem with my 2005 Grizzly I found this topic searching for a fix lol, I have the handwarmers all wired up, but the lights are being a pain, so far have the rack, and all the coverings off, and have found nothing, and I can't see a hole on the seat to run the wires out, all the wires are for the handwarmers (in the bag) follow the chart given, I took me a while to figure it out, but I am sure if I can do it you can lol. add me to your MSN if you need help.

I had the same problem and found out when I reversed the brown and yellow wires from the trunk brake light to the harness for the warmers, all worked as designed. I have the yellow wire from the light going to the brown wire on the connector for the hand warmers and vice versa for the brown wire. I hope this helps. I am not a rocket scientist, by any means. Hey, wait a minute, I'm not a scientist of any kind....bummer. I bought the Kimpex grips for the trunk (part number 058464) from ATV outfitters (awesome company). I also got some Blue CAT5 cables, emptied the wires out of the CAT5 and used tem as conduit for all of my trunk wiring. Looks cool, matches the Polaris Blue on my ride, and people ask me all the time where they can buy the harnesses. Think I will start my multi-million dollor enterprise. Oh, wait a minute, maybe I am a scientist.

Also, you need to drill small holes in the bottom of the trunk to run the wires. Be careful, don't drill through the rack.
