oh no!! oil pouring out of missing bolt on crank case near clutch?
#1
Hey guys... well i changed my clutch about a month ago and i unscrewed the bolt under the spot where the clutch goes into the crank case. I installed everything back to normal but that bolt that i took out where the clutch cable threads into.. the crankcase threads which hold the bolt stripped so i just put locktite on it and screwed the bolt back in. I checked it about 6 or riding it and it was still very loose but not that bad. occasionally a little drop of oil would streak down from that spot.. well i was riding yesterday for about 6 hours and i flipped my quad on its side riding on 2 wheels.. it was lik 3 mph so im fine its happened to all of us... well the quad was on its side and when i turned it over i notices sprayed oil all over the frame and plastics in that area. there was about half a quart of oil on the ground. I immediatly noticed that that bolt fell out and all i can figure is thats where the oil is coming from. I then checked the tank and it was overflowing but shouldn't that happen if ive been riding it top end for about an hour or 2?? Also anyone ever experiance anything with this boolt and what is this bolt for what does it do? Thanks in advance!!!!!! -Matt-

I think so.. its on the clutch side of the rap..where the clutch cable goes into the crank case. there is a bolt about a centimeter under where the cable ends. and it popped out and oil leaks out when turned on and when tipped to the side oil pours out like a hose!!!!

Yes, that bolt holds the clutch shaft for riding up or coming out of the case. Your threads are gutted anyway, you could try and use a fine thread wood screw that is pointy on the end...as long as the diameter is a bit larger it should screw right in tight. It must be the exact same length though....or it will not seal too the case. I would definately lock tite it, because it's gonna be more prone too backing out. Thats what I would try first. Bad situation...but a case cover is expensive.

sixsixT- yes that bolt!!!
garyc660R-thanks for the tip. should oil pour out of there though.. there is still plenty of oil in the oil resivoir, considering that most of it spilled on the ground when it was on its side.
IM going to try to start it with tht bolt missing it shouldn't hurt the clutch should it? then im either going to re-thread it and get a bigger bolt or put a sleeve with threads in the hole and screw the bolt back in. hmm...
