Default Newbie Buying a Pred 500 TLD

Hey guys. This is my first post so I will try and not sound like and idiot. I am buying my first quad in a couple of weeks and I was wondering about pricing. I have a quote from a dealer in Birmingham, Alabama for a ’05 Predator TLD for $6050. I thought it was a good price for a hot new model so I jumped on it. My plan was to put half down now and the other half on delivery. Only thing is, when I got the invoice I saw that there were extra fees involved that pretty much pushed the price back up to MSRP. Now I am starting to have second thoughts. Is this normal? There were fees for transportation, dealer set up and processing. I guess all vehicle purchases are the same when it comes to that. My only hope now is to get him to cut me a deal on a helmet. Thanks for your help.

bad dealers always try to add unfair charges to help line THEIR pockets. don't let them get away with it.

my local dealer tried that bs with me with a "set-up fee". i told him i'll take it in the crate! he said Polaris won't let him do that. i started walking for the door......he said he'd waive the fee.

now think about it, do you really think the Mfg doesn't pay for set-up, PDI (pre delivery inspection), and a clean-up of a BRAND NEW ATV? you bet they do! the dealers are just trying to collect TWICE!

try a different dealer.

exceptions: if you want the dealer to register it for you instead of you going yourself, i would expect a charge. if you bought extra accesories and wanted them installed then i would expect a charge.

BTW, welcome to the forum. lots of great people hang-out here!

Try to get the Out The Door price. It seems like the biggest gig around here to, they offer this super deal and when you sign on the dotted line you have all these extras. also around here they have ths Buddy pack deal for this low monthly payment, well come to find out that is for one atv your real payment is for two. another read the small print deal.
Sam

good luck

Ya, I wouldn't mess with that. A lot of dealers do that to make it sound like your getting a great deal..then next thing you know your paying for all sorts of crap that the dealer tacked on...If you don't go through that dealer then just search around...If you look hard enough you could get that for the OTD price which would be a great deal.

That is a really good price though........so if the add on's weren't that much(a few hunderd dollars) then I'd say you are probably still getting one at the right price.

You'll be able to get a helment too..........if not, you should.........

Thanks for all your help guys, I talked to my dealer and told him about my issues with the extra fees and he knocked them off. So now my out the door price for a ’05 TLD is $6050 + tax, not the best but well under MSRP. It didn’t help much when I showed him a print out from the web of a store 150 miles away that were selling them AT COST ($5599, BTW). Once I kindly explained to him that I would much rather purchase the quad from his establishment seeing as how he was a lot closer but I would make the drive if I had to, he quickly lowered the price for me. Got him to throw in some gear too. Still, I think I should have taken the drive. Would have saved some $$$. Here is the web site if anyone is interested: http://www.polarisofchattanooga.com
