Gas Gas Wild 450 HP ATV 2005
#1
I am just about to purchase my first atv and have a few questions.
1. Does anyone know if the new Gas Gas 450 2005 has a reverse gear?
2. How does it compare to the Yamaha 660 Raptor ( Do not worry about price as I live in Spain and the Gas Gas is cheaper than the Yamaha)
3. Does anyone know where I can find a review of the 2005 Gas Gas?
4. If anyone has a 2004 what are the good and bad points regarding this atv.
Many thanks and look forward to hearing you replies.

I belive the Gas Gas Wild HP 450 is new for 2005. I have a firend that had sold his Wild HP 300 2-stroke. Gas Gas does not cut corners on there racing setups. The 450 is the 4-stroke race setup answer to the 300.
6 speed transmission !!!No REVERSE!!!

Kind of an odd review. They call the motor unispired. Arent they pushing 43 hp stock? I though I read a test where it was much faster than any other quad but didnt accelerate very well due to wheel spin.

Wistech - Looks like later in the review the stated that they had some mis-matched parts from the 400 instead of the 450 engine. Looked like the ignition and throttle body were setup for the 400 not the 450. That could make issues for it being an uninspired motor.

This is a recent post of mine:
"I have a portuguese magazine that tested the GG450 and others (ltz/predator/ex400/)
Power was 40.7 rwhp at 8750rpm's.
While being beaten by the predator in max hp by 3.2 rwhp, the GG has the best power curve of all.
It has power in all rpm's, pulling like a tractor out of the turns, leaving others behind.
The power curve is the best I've seen so far. It's like a very round curve, instead of a line climbing up and then abruptly going down, like the predator.
They said that when you shift you don't loose power like all the others, and you really can tell that just by looking at the power curve.
By the way, the GG450 is getting a 60% new engine for 2005, putting out 56hp (crank) at 12500rpm's.
That's 2 more than bombardier claims for their Baja (unlike America, in Portugal manufacturers declare hp numbers).
GG will have a big bore kit for it, 500c.c. and 64hp (at the crank, I presume...) at 11000rpm's"
I asked today at the local Gasgas dealer and he told me the 450 has reverse.
I also saw a Dirtwheels comparo between the Gasgas and the predator, and they said the spanish quad had almost no wheelspin at all, traction was very good.
The early problems are all solved, and the suspension is new, now it's a lot softer than the initial road versions.
Hope it helped!
