Default Best suspension retrofit for Yamoto 150?

I thought I read somewhere that you could put LT80 shocks on the Yamoto 150? Can anybody verify that? I want to upgrade the stiff suspension on our Yamoto. What has worked for others and what is recomended? Thanks.

From what I have heard the lt 160 shock's are a direct replacement. The eton 50,70,90 shocks are also a direct fit, I have had them measured for me. The cheap way to loosen up the front shock's is to swap your front tires from side to side. This puts the valve stem on the inside and increases front track width approx 4". That will put more leverage on front shock's and soften them right up. I have done this to my wifes 150. Big improvement. Also the price is right, FREE.

Oh, I will try that with the fronts like you say. Thanks.

So the LT160 is a direct swap? I wonder how much those cost and if you can get aftermarket? Thanks a lot .

Would the shocks from a '91 LT160 work?

Oh yeah.... I think I can get fronts and the rear....Is it a easy swap? Do you think it will be taller? Is your 150 taller in the back with the CR80 shock?

MWQ - Check out the stock suspension on this Kazuma/Redcat 150> http://www.racewayatv.com/Kazuma-RFX-150.php That looks much better than stock Yamoto. Same Loncin engine but a much better, thought out suspension. I like the double A-Arm design too. I would of gone with that one if I would of known about it. What do you think?

The front shocks will work with no height change. As for the rear I have no idea. My wifes Yamoto sit's at stock height, although there is some suspension settling when you sit on it now . about 1/2" or so. The cr 80 shock was 4" longer than stock and only uses the stock top mount now.

I inverted the front wheels to widen the front + increase front shock travel and it seems to work. Thanks for the tip.

How long is the CR80 shock from eyelet to eyelet? How long is the stock Yamoto shock? The suspension must be much better now without that stiff stock shock? Can you take whoops now without feeling like you're straddling a 2X4 piece of wood?

First off, Have you read everything under "Yamoto 150cc Review"????I have typed a lot of stuff about my wifes quad in there, and I dont type fast enough to re type it. Second, I am at work so I dont have the quad to measure so I'll take a guess. CR80 shock approx 14". Stock shock approx 10". The suspension is not even comparable to stock now. The stock shock has 9/16" of travel. No that is not a typo. Less than an inch. New shock 2 13/16 and it has compression and rebound damping adjustments. How is it in whoops?? I don't know, I don't ride it. See my list of currently owned toys, and the wife rarely goes over 1/2 throttle, and doesnt ever want to catch air. I am a machinist by trade and love to modify anything and everything.
