Default Rough crank bearings

I have had my motor apart for a few weeks on my 250r and i went to spin the crank the yesterday and i noticed it was really rough.... and there was rust collectin on the crank itself.... im from wisconsin... and its really humid up here, so i think thats the culprit.... now, my question is.... what now? I am wonderin how difficult it would be to split the halves, without the tranny fallin apart.... Also.... i think the connectin rod bearing is rough too..... how do i replace that one? I just need somebody that knows what they are doin with bottom ends and stuff... cuz i am good with mechanics.... and i dont want to have to take it to some guy that will harge a bundle for labor.... i just need to know what to do... and what not to do.... in splittin the halves

Default Rough crank bearings

Well, to solve all the mentioned problems and not have to worry about it, buy a new crank since they already have rods pressed on. Also get new main bearing and seals. Now, to split the cases, this is a biiiiiatch. I'm doing the same on my R motor. Well actually, it's not that bad if you have a clymer. You should be able to take one half off without the tranny coming out. It is recommended that you use a case splitter, however all I did (after removing top-end) was LIGHTLY tap on the cylinder base studs with a 2x4 and a hammer. Hope that answers your questions.
