Default 2014 400ho front axle replace

So we were out riding and my boy snapped the front axle on his 1 yr old 400HO. Was not into anything rough it seemed. Anyway, can anyone give me a good place to get a replacement and is it a DIY job? Would I hafta get into the front diff to get it out or will it just come out once the wheel ***'y is apart?

Any help is surely appreciated.
It seemed to happen when he was in AWD, wheels cranked, maybe full crank, in the mud but the particular wheel was elevated ...Seems maybe it bound the CV joint and just snapped it when into the throttle.

You have to drop the arm from the strut ball joint, remove the tie rod, pull out on the strut to allow the cv to bend and wiggle out. Usually just a quick short jerk will free the drive shaft from the front diff. A c clip on the drive shaft locks it into the front diff.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Epi,Sixity, etc has drive shaft options among others you can check out. Just google the oem Part#1332391

Thanks OPT...we can always count on your knowledge. I watched some youtube vids on this but couldn't find anything out there on the newer years...so wanted to make sure nothing changed in the design...sounds like its been the same for years as far as axle removal.

I will be pulling it apart this week and see what "let go" and where. Then get the necessary parts on order.

Thanks again !

The axle pulls out like any other year or even any other make and model 4x4.

10-4 TLC,
I watched some youtube vids and it seems pretty straightforward.
Just was not of the same year....so am glad to hear it is reasonably easy.

Hey, realize this is an old thread, and hope you were able to find everything you were looking for. You should check out American CV though, they've got some good axles and joints for Polaris - https://www.americancvstore.com/2010...kit-front.html
