ASK YOURSELF IF THIS MAKES SENSE ?

Don't close your blinds . . . . .


The other day, my nine year old son wanted to know why we were at war. My husband looked at our son and then looked at me. My husband and I were in the Army during the Gulf War and we would be honored to serve and defend our Country again today. I knew that my husband would give him a good explanation.



My husband thought for a few minutes and then told my son to go stand in our front living room window. He said "Son, stand there and tell me what you see?"



"I see trees and cars and our neighbor's houses." he replied.



"OK, now I want you to pretend that our house and our yard is the United States of America and you are President Bush." .



Our son giggled and said "OK."



"Now son, I want you to look out the window and pretend that every house and yard on this block is a different country" my husband said.



"OK Dad, I'm pretending."



"Now I want you to stand there and look out the window and pretend you see Saddam come out of his house with his wife, he has her by the hair and is hitting her. You see her bleeding and crying. He hits her in the face, he throws her on the ground, then he starts to kick her to death. Their children run out and are afraid to stop him, they are screaming and crying, they are watching this but do nothing because they are kids and they are afraid of their father. You see all of this, son.... what do you do?"



"Dad?"



"What do you do son?"



"I'd call the police, Dad."



"OK. Pretend that the police are the United Nations. They take your call. They listen to what you know and saw but they refuse to help. What do you do then son?"



"Dad.......... but the police are supposed to help!" My son starts to whine.



"They don't want to son, because they say that it is not their place or your place to get involved and that you should stay out of it," my husband says.



"But Dad...he killed her!!" my son exclaims. "I know he did...but the police tell you to stay out of it. Now I want you to look out that window and pretend you see our neighbor who you're pretending is Saddam turn around and do the same thing to his children."



"Daddy...he kills them?"



"Yes son, he does. What do you do?"



"Well, if the police don't want to help, I will go and ask my next door neighbor to help me stop him." our son says.



"Son, our next door neighbor sees what is happening and refuses to get involved as well. He refuses to open the door and help you stop him, "my husband says.



"But Dad, I NEED help!!! I can't stop him by myself!!"



"WHAT DO YOU DO SON?" Our son starts to cry.



"OK, no one wants to help you, the man across the street saw you ask for help and saw that no one would help you stop him. He stands taller and puffs out his chest. Guess what he does next son?"



"What Daddy?"



"He walks across the street to the old ladies house and breaks down her door and drags her out, steals all her stuff and sets her house on fire and then...he kills her. He turns around and sees you standing in the window and laughs at you. WHAT DO YOU DO?"



"Daddy..."



"WHAT DO YOU DO?"



Our son is crying and he looks down and he whispers, "I'd close the blinds, Daddy."



My husband looks at our son with tears in his eyes and asks him..."Why?"



"Because Daddy.....the police are supposed to help people who needs them...and they won't help.... You always say that neighbors are supposed to HELP neighbors, but they won't help either...they won't help me stop him...I'm afraid....I can't do it by myself Daddy.....I can't look out my window and just watch him do all these terrible things and...and.....do nothing...so....I'm just going to close the blinds.... so I can't see what he's doing........and I'm going to pretend that it is not happening."



I start to cry.



My husband looks at our nine year old son standing in the window, looking pitiful and ashamed at his answers to my husband's questions and he says..."Son"



"Yes, Daddy."



"Open the blinds because that man.... he's at your front door..."WHAT DO YOU DO?"



My son looks at his father, anger and defiance in his eyes. He ***** up his tiny fists and looks his father square in the eyes, without hesitation he says: "I DEFEND MY FAMILY DAD!! I'M NOT GONNA LET HIM HURT MOMMY OR MY SISTER, DAD!!! I'M GONNA FIGHT HIM, DAD, I'M GONNA FIGHT HIM!!!!!"



I see a tear roll down my husband's cheek and he grabs our son to his chest and hugs him tight, and says... "It's too late to fight him, he's too strong and he's already at YOUR front door son.....you should have stopped him BEFORE he killed his wife, and his children and the old lady across the way. You have to do what's right, even if you have to do it alone, before it's too late." my husband whispers. THAT scenario I just gave you is WHY we are at war with Iraq. When good men stand by and let evil happen son, THAT is the greatest EVIL of all. Our President is doing what is right. We, as a free nation, must understand that this war is a war of humanity. WE must remove evil men from power so that we can continue to live in a free world where we are not afraid to look out our window so that my nine year old son won't grow up in a world where he feels that if he just "closes" that blinds the atrocities in the world won't affect him. "YOU MUST NEVER BE AFRAID TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT!, EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO DO IT ALONE!" BE PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN! BE PROUD OF OUR TROOPS!! SUPPORT THEM!!! SUPPORT AMERICA SO THAT IN THE FUTURE OUR CHILDREN WILL NEVER HAVE TO CLOSE THEIR BLINDS..."



This should be printed in every newspaper and posted in every school in America. Of course that won't happen so we'll use the internet. If your blinds are closed do nothing with this email. If they are open I do not need to tell you what to do.

very nice.......I agree 100% with the father, a smart man. Get done what needs done. I'm willing to defend my family no matter what.......

 

If i see someone gettin an unfair asswhoopin on the street no matter what the numbers I'm gonna step in and help equalize the odds.. thing that Pisses me off. My cousin is dating an Army Ranger and they was out at a club this past weekend and when they went outside to have a smoke they saw this dude gettin pummled and the Ranger was goin to stop it and she wouldnt let him. I Chewed her *** and told her she shoulda been there for him aswell. its one thing to kick a guys *** and its another to continue to beat him bloody while he is on the ground.

 

I agree.........we have some guys like that around here too........


I am a good buddy with a Navy Seal(retired at age 35)....and some guys(3 of them) we out hunting on his land(not knowing he was a seal).......and he went out to stop them, and they said they didn't give a **** what he though, they were going to hunt it anyways........He then told them he could kick their ***, but he wasn't going to do that, he also said he could kill them in under 5 seconds, but wasn't going to do that either, but he was going to take em down and beat them limp if they didn't leave........needless to say they left....


When a man like that is in your face, and says he'll beat you bloody(due to his extensive training) you understand him pretty quickly, no matter how many of you there is.......

Sounds like propaganda to me.
Have you asked yourself who made saddam? Why is he now the villian after all these years? When he was gassing kurds, with our chemical that we sold him, where was your outrage? When he was gassing iranians, in the 80s, where was your outrage? Wheres the link between saddam and terrorism? There are more terrorists in iraq today.. than there was 2 years age...gonna blame ol saddam for that? Did you discuss these with your kid?
Why does our country have a history of backing the wrong guy? noreaga, ortega, shaw of iran, and on and on?
Theres a bigger view of the world, and looking at one small man and demonizing him, and saying hes the cause of all of our problems is mighty myoptic. If it were tru that saddam is our only problem, why havent things gotten better? These people are no different than you and i . ALL they want, is for the aggressors to leave. If america was taken over by a counrtry, and they were after out resources, and killing our families....wouldnt you fight back with any means necessary?
Its always the ones who have never been to war, like bush and cheney and rumfeld, that are always so eager to start one. Is this what we teach in school...that might makes right? If you want some/ get some?

This is about anyone who trys to do the U.S. harm whether we created the problem or not, we shall finish it to our needs and so would any other country who could produce the muscle !

FORMER HEAD OF CIA'S OSAMA BIN LADEN UNIT SAYS THE QAEDA LEADER HAS SECURED RELIGIOUS APPROVAL TO USE A NUCLEAR BOMB AGAINST AMERICANS

Osama bin Laden now has religious approval to use a nuclear device against Americans, says the former head of the CIA unit charged with tracking down the Saudi terrorist. The former agent, Michael Scheuer, speaks to Steve Kroft in his first television interview without disguise to be broadcast on 60 MINUTES Sunday, Nov. 14 (7:00-8:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Scheuer was until recently known as the "anonymous" author of two books critical of the West's response to bin Laden and al Qaeda, the most recent of which is titled Imperial Hubris: Why the West is Losing the War on Terror. No one in the West knows more about the Qaeda leader than Scheuer, who has tracked him since the mid-1980s. The CIA allowed him to write the books provided he remain anonymous, but now is allowing him to reveal himself for the first time on Sunday's broadcast; he formally leaves the Agency today (12).

Even if bin Laden had a nuclear weapon, he probably wouldn't have used it for a lack of proper religious authority - authority he has now. "[Bin Laden] secured from a Saudi sheik...a rather long treatise on the possibility of using nuclear weapons against the Americans," says Scheuer. "[The treatise] found that he was perfectly within his rights to use them. Muslims argue that the United States is responsible for millions of dead Muslims around the world, so reciprocity would mean you could kill millions of Americans," Scheuer tells Kroft.

Scheuer says bin Laden was criticized by some Muslims for the 9/11 attack because he killed so many people without enough warning and before offering to help convert them to Islam. But now bin Laden has addressed the American people and given fair warning. "They're intention is to end the war as soon as they can and to ratchet up the pain for the Americans until we get out of their region....If they acquire the weapon, they will use it, whether it's chemical, biological or some sort of nuclear weapon," says Scheuer.

As the head of the CIA unit charged with tracking bin Laden from 1996 to 1999, Scheuer says he never had enough people to do the job right. He blames former CIA Director George Tenet. "One of the questions that should have been asked of Mr. Tenet was why were there always enough people for the public relations office, for the academic outreach office, for the diversity and multi-cultural office? All those things are admirable and necessary but none of them are protecting the American people from a foreign threat," says Scheuer.

And the threat posed by bin Laden is also underestimated, says Scheuer. "I think our leaders over the last decade have done the American people a disservice...continuing to characterize Osama bin Laden as a thug, as a gangster," he says. "Until we respect him, sir, we are going to die in numbers that are probably unnecessary, yes. He's a very, very talented man and a very worthy opponent," he tells Kroft.

Until today (12), Scheuer was a senior official in the CIA's counter terrorism unit and a special advisor to the head of the agency's bin Laden unit.
