Default 05 Sportsman 400 question

hey everyone, im new to the forums here. i just purchased an 04 Sportsman 400 and was wondering what kind of RPM's you are all having to get to until the machine starts to move. When mine is in high gear, it takes like 2500 to get it moving. does this number sound right to you? when its in low gear alot less rpms are needed.

All I can tell you is that mine idles at 1450......and must go higher than that to move. Dealers and friends stress not using
High unless on the level or moving about 10 mph or better. Then, they stress it some more.

mine will engage at around 2000 and less the quicker you apply the throttle.. this PVT is dependant on engine speed and tourq requirements. as the engine speed increases the force exerted on the movable drive shaft sheave by the flyweights also increases. this will increase the "pinch" applyed to your belt for quicker engagements.. in other words the quicker you apply yur throttle the quicker your clutch will grab the belt
