Need help deciding on ATV's
#1
Hi Everyone,
I hope I can get some opinions from all of you. I want to buy an ATV for myself and my husband for Christmas as a surprise. I have been looking at Polaris as their prices seem to be reasonable and from what I have read they sound reliable. We are looking for sport models and this would be our first ATV purchase. I am wondering what models you would recommend. I was looking at the new Phoenix or Trail Blazer 250 for me and the Trail Boss 330 for him. Would those be right for what we need? I don't know how much size matters if at all but I am 5'7" and 150 lbs and he is 6'2" and about 235 lbs. I want to make sure his ATV is big enough for him but I really can't afford to spend 6-7 thousand on one ATV.
Any and all input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Heidi

The Railblazer would be great for you but you may try checking some dealers for a leftover 400 Scrambler 2x4 or 400 Trailblazer for your husband.I know the dealer here has a new 2002 400 Scrambler and he told me he would take $4300 . And he may ship it for a price too.But check around where you are at. check around

or a older quad that has low miles u would find www.ebay.com very useful

You definately don't want to buy him a Trailboss 330. You will be able to outrun him on the Trailblazer 250. My wife had a Trailboss, and she hated it, she rode with the throttle wide open, and couldn't keep pace with the group. I bought her a TB250 and she loves it. Now she is riding a Sportsman 600, REALLY loves that.
As for the 6 to 7k, check with your dealer. I was able to buy my wife her SP600 for $5000.00, it was 6 months old, and afresh trade in towards a new 700EFI. I put it on the Star Card.
If you don't have any mud applications, you may want to just buy TWO Trailblazer 250's. I enjoy'd running my wifes, the two-stroke sound is awesome. (Probably why I ride my kids Predator 90 now to the neighbors, it sounds so cool)

Hi a good used wheeler may be the way to go...I would check around locally for something like a used Kawai 360..polaris 400 sportsman ect...you would pay less for them ( in most cases ) then it would cost for a new Trail Boss. I WOULD be very cautious buying a wheeler on E-bay..there are some deals out there ...but a lot of scams as well.

I just found out that my wife was buying me a new ATV, also. Just make sure you don't ask him too many questions, cuz he'll get suspicious.

I really do want to surprise him and have been trying not to ask too many questions. I just want to make sure I get him something he will love so he's not disappointed.
I will check some dealers near by and see if they have anything good that's used or last years model.
Thanks again, I am sure I will be beck with more questions!

A 400 Scrambler or Explorer sounds like a good fit for him. You can find good deals on used ones. With a city the size of Seattle I would look in the paper. You could probably find a good deal on a slightly used one. Good luck and God bless all the women who ride with there Man.
