Default Will my rear brake work?

I have the mechanical rear brake. It had a line going to it from the lever but i took that out. I just want it to be controlled by the foot lever. If i just plug the hole from the line then i should just be able to use the foot lever, right? I know it won't be too strong but i think it should work.

I would think that it would work fine. It may even work better because you dont have the extra line pressure.
