97 Sportsman 500 problem

97 Sportsman 500 problem
I have noticed 2 problems.
1. Oil in the pull cord area. This happened several years ago while it was under warranty so I had a dealer fix it. What is the cause? How do you fix it? Will it hurt it if I wait until after hunting season to fix it.
2. Noise coming from inside the clutch cover. I took the cover off and saw nothing loose. There were rub marks on the top and bottom of the case. The rubbing is intermittant but frequent with no pattern. Cause? Solution?
