my shifter is real floppy and won`t shift into gears without playing with it alot and when you get it up in the gears shifting down is virtually impossible without coming to a complete stop.Any help would be much appreciated.

It may be that your shifting linkage may be either broken or worn.

Drain coolant, drain transmission oil, take off right side cover to see what's going on inside. That's the only way. If anything it will be a learning experience. There is an adjustment screw that controls the shift linkage position to the shift star.
