Thumb throttle upgrade for Polaris
#1
I have an 2002 scrambler and my kids complain about the thumb throttle. Polaris fixed the problem in 03. Has anyone tried to install thenew throttle on an older model? Please let me know if it can be done. Thanx

Im sure it will work for you.I actually tried installing one on our Viper.Everything fit ok and it would have worked except the emergency brake button on the front brake lever didn't work out.I was amazed that the E-ton unit was actually a little better shaped ergonomically and actually had a slightly lighter spring inside of it.Anyway for these reasons I took it off and reinstalled the original viper throttle.I think it would be much better than your 02 polaris unit though.

The best thing i found to do is to remove the oil injection and replace the factory cable with a single cable from Terry Cable . I did this on my sons Polaris 90 and what a diff.

I often wonder if changing the thumb control with a better thumb lever and leaving the same "spring tension" on the carb & oil injection system would yield the best results.
For us, we removed our Oil Injection system and went pre-mix at 32:1, and instantly the spring tension on the thumb control dropped approx 50%. Try either way that works best for you...
