Default Lakota Tail/ brake light

As you all probably know by now that I got a '97 Lakota; racks and all. The original taillight with it has only 2 wires out of it thereby limiting it to a tail light with no brakelight ability. I then thought I'd grab the old tail/ brakelight off my Mojave as it has all 3 wires and stick it on the Lakota as the harness on teh Lakota has 2 wires for the tail/ brake light as well. Well when trying it out the brake light wouldn't work as suppoed to; I pluued in the front brak lever and tried the pedal, nothing. Is there an actuator somewhaere, or did the '97 not have the brake light capability?
