Warn 424 Cable Mounting Locations?
#1
Has anyone came up with any other creative places to mount the select cable/**** other than the top left side of the fender that Warn shows in its pictures? If so, please provide pictures if possible....or specific details at least.
Thanks!

We just installed one on my buddy's rancher and came up with an awesome solution to mounting it. We took a piece of aluminum plate and mounted it to the front rack via two u-bolts. It works like a charm and didn't require drilling into the plastic.

Oops, not the winch but a 424. Check out my links for my install. Not much you can do with the short cable. Keep up posted if you can find some new magic.

Just put the warn select on my Rancher, was wondering if anybody mounted the selector button on the handlebars.Would this affect the operation of the warn select.Almost looks like a factory install when I held it in place on the bars.

JMO but I think the cable would be in the way of turning unless it was real close to the center. Then it's hard to imagine there is enough slack for that. If you could bring it up through the steering column area then your on to something, mount it next to the lights and key/pod. Only problem with that is the cable would have to make a big bend to get pointing upward again.

I have a wolverine and I mounted it under the handlebars right over the gas tank. Look amazing. I didnt have to drill, I just took out the bolt holding the cab and bolted it in the same hole!
Dont put it on the handlebars because the cable is very sesitive to movement, ie mine only shifts if im sitting on the bike, if im off the 424 wont shift. Do a search on the yamaha page and would see pixs of the differant locations to mount

Still haven't purchased a 424 yet, but can someone tell me how long the cable is so that I can get some idea of how far back I can mount the **** based on cable length? It will be going on a 2005 Honda Rancher.
Thanks!
