if you look at my pictures you'll see that's about as far back as it goes. Don't know the exact cable lenght but that doesn't really matter. The cable you get is what you have to work with. It can't make any sharp bends or it'll bind. The cable is fairly thick. A bit thicker than a lawnmower throttle cable. The instructions are very specific and where and how to run it. The location I have mine and many others is about as good as it gets. Out of the way, easy to get to, etc.

Still if you figure out a better way please post.
