2005 scrambler 500 suspension set-up?
#1
Who has there stock suspension set-up for themself?
I want to set mine up but don't have a clue on how much sag there should be.
I have the shock on the second from the top. Meaning the spring is almost compressed fully.
How should I have it set up?
I do a lot of trail(rocks in the road) driving.
I dont jump!
Also, Is there a way to get more ground clearance?
I have a skid plate on the swing arm but i only have 5-6 inches( i guess) of clearance.

I couldn't help you too much with the shock set up, but as far as ground clearance goes, being a solid axle the only way to get more is to put on larger tires. I had the swing arm skid plate on my Scram for about a week then I took it off and it's been sitting in the garage since. I just gets hung up too much. I never encountered any situations where that swing arm skid would have saved me. Unless that skid makes you more confident, I personally would take it off if you are getting hung up too much.

it really depends on what you plan to do
i set mine a little on the soft side so i get a little more sag,,,,,,,keeps it from pogo-ing on the steep uphills,,,,and keeps the center of gravity a little lower
I have never had a skid,,,,just the stock chainring guard,,,,,and never had a problem (i ride rocks/mts)
i crank it up,,,,if I am using the rear racks
not sure what you mean by that,,,,unless they have changed the design
my 02 has a threaded rear shock that you just turn to tighten (about 2" of preload range)
is there a different setup on the 05's

I think it sayed my disk and chain guard a few times. The guard is bent up towards the chain so I had to bend it back down. I let a lot of people ride the bike and they are not aware of the ground clearance. I think I'll take it off and make one out of stainless steel. lets see a rock bend that
