Default 04 axle conversion on 02 saved 5lbs 2oz

Just put on a 04 axle and alum sprocket. Total weight savings was 5lbs 2.5 oz. Can't wait to give it a run up the hill. Everything went together no problem. Had to grind down the rear caliper alittle to clear the dust covers that are on the 04 axle.

How much weight do you think the sprocket and hubs saved? Sounds like a person would be better off just machiing down their hubs and getting an aluminum sprocket.

Yes I did use my old bearing carrier. I checked with a dealer the said the part numbers were different but I had them check and it is the same part. The dealer says they do that a lot with different model years. I did weigh just the sprocket and hubs. I got he whole axle of ebay for $150 bucks that is why I swapped out the whole thing. It was raining so I didn't have a chance to ride more than a few hunderd yards. I will give it a test out this week some time.

I may go with the DuraBlue 04/05 axle it is +2 which bring it back to pre 04 width. I have the 04 hubs just need brake and sprocket hubs.
